Liverpool Academy Competitions For 2024/25
U17 and U18 Premier League Cup
In 2017, the Premier League introduced the U18 Premier League Cup and the U16 Premier League Cup, renaming the latter to the U17 Premier League Cup in 2020 for their respective age groups.
The seven group winners, along with the best runner-up determined by total points, goal difference, and then head-to-head record, will progress to the quarterfinals.

Liverpool U17 are drawn in Group G against under-17 teams from Stoke City, Manchester United and Nottingham Forest.

U19 UEFA Youth League
As the leading club competition for academy-age footballers worldwide, it serves as a prestigious and vital platform where players can build their reputations and rise to prominence.
When eligible, the Under-19s compete in the UEFA Youth League, which mirrors the UEFA Champions’ League group stage.
UEFA will be introducing a new format from the 2024-25 season.

Starting from the 2023 season, all 26 Category 1 teams compete in a single league using the Swiss-style format.
Entry into or removal from this league depends on meeting the Elite Player Performance Plan (EPPP) accreditation criteria.

Premier League International Cup
The participating teams are split into four groups of eight, each comprising four UK-based Under-21 teams and four invited overseas clubs represented by their development squads.
Each UK team will host all four overseas clubs in their group. The results will determine the standings in each group, with the top two teams advancing to the knockout stages.
Liverpool U21 will face Hertha BSC, FC Nordsjaelland, PSV and AC Sparta Praha in the initial phase of the tournament.
Fulham, Manchester United and Norwich City are the other UK-based teams in their group.

In the 3rd round of the FA Youth Cup, Liverpool have been drawn away to Preston North End.
24th November 2024
Liverpool are through to the quarter finals of the U18 Premier League Cup.
6th December 2024
The FA Youth Cup journey came to an end for Liverpool U18s after a stunning third-round 1 – 4 loss away to Preston North End.
20th December 2024
Liverpool U19s will play VfB Stuttgart in the UEFA Youth League knockout round. The match will be played in Germany on February 11 or 12.
They finished in the top 22 of the league phase with eight points from six games.
12th January 2025
Rio Ngumoha became Liverpool’s youngest-ever starter, surpassing Harvey Elliott, who made his first start at 16 years, five months, and 22 days old.
Ngumoha’s historic debut came in Liverpool’s 4-0 victory over Accrington Stanley in the FA Cup third round.

Midfielder Tom Hill has completed a permanent transfer to Harrogate Town.

Josh Sonni-Lambie has officially signed his first professional contract with Liverpool FC.
The 17-year-old striker, who was discovered playing grassroots football in London, joined the Reds’ academy at the U14 level.

Since Sunderland detected an injury during his medical, Jayden Danns has remained at Kirkby throughout the loan and continues his rehabilitation.
March 22 2025
Josh Sonnie-Lambie made his full debut at this level, marking the occasion by scoring the Young Lions’ second goal in a 2-2 draw against France in Portugal.
March 25 2025
Clae Ewing has signed his first professional contract with Liverpool FC.
The 18-year-old, who joined the Reds from Bury at U12 level, has primarily played as a left-back for the U18s this season.

In the Premier League 2 Round of 16, Liverpool U21s will take on Manchester City U21s. The match is scheduled for April 25th.
25th April 2025
Liverpool U21s have been knocked out of the Premier League 2 knockout stage following a 2-1 loss away to Manchester City U21, with Tommy Pilling providing their lone goal.
