Northampton Town Academy Competitions For 2024/25
U18 Youth Alliance Cup
The EFL Youth Alliance Cup is a youth football tournament in England, organized by the English Football League (EFL). It features under-18 teams from League One and League Two clubs that compete in the EFL Youth Alliance, the league system for these academies.
The competition follows a format like the EFL Trophy, beginning with a regional group stage before progressing to a national knockout phase.
Designed to foster young talent at lower-tier EFL clubs, the tournament provides a structured competitive environment beyond regular league matches.
In the group stage, Northampton Town U18 are drawn in Group G against under-18 teams from Luton Town, Milton Keynes Dons, Cambridge United and Stevenage.

The academy participates in the Northamptonshire FA Hillier Senior Cup

After beating Peterborough United away 2 – 1 in the first round, Northampton Town has secured a place in the second round of the FA Youth Cup
1st November 2024
Northampton Town U18s have been drawn away to AFC Fylde in the 2nd round of the FA Youth Cup. Match to be played on Friday the 15th of November at Mill Farm
15th November 2024
In the 3rd round of the FA Youth Cup, Northampton Town have been drawn away to either Leyton Orient or Whitehawk if they win their match against AFC Fylde.
Northampton were eliminated from the competition after a 3-3 draw, losing 3-4 to AFC Fylde in the penalty shootout.
21st December 2024
Fran Obiagwu, at 16 years and 170 days, made his first-team debut for the Cobblers. This made him the youngest player to ever play for the team in an EFL game.
8th January 2025
Max Dyche has rejoined his parent club following his loan spell at Woking, during which he featured 23 times in the National League.
13th February 2025
The academy youth team has advanced to the semi-final of the Northamptonshire FA David Joyce Cup after a dramatic quarter-final victory over Wellingborough Whitworth Black.
Following a 1-1 draw in extra time, they secured the win with a 4-3 triumph in the penalty shootout.
14th March 2025
Northampton Town under-18 have booked their place in the final of the Northamptonshire FA U18 David Joyce Cup with a 5 – 0 win over Kettering Town at Latimer Park.
18th March 2025
The Northampton Town U23s advanced to the Northamptonshire FA Senior Cup final with a 9-8 penalty shootout victory over AFC Rushden & Diamonds. The match ended 2-2 after 90 minutes.
1st April 2025
Northampton Town under-23s will take on Corby Town in the final of the Northants FA Hillier Senior Cup on Tuesday 8th April at Sixfields.
8th April 2025
Town U23s clinched the Northamptonshire FA Hillier Senior Cup for the 2024/25 season with a 2-0 victory over Corby Town. Goals from Joziah Barnett and Neo Dobson on either side of half-time sealed the win for Northampton.
4th May 2025
Max Dyche has been awarded the Young Player of the Season, with the award sponsored by In”N’Out Autocentres.
Fran Obiagwu has been named Academy Player of the Season and also claimed the Golden Boot Award, having finished as joint top scorer across the youth teams with 18 goals.
