U17 Professional Development League Cup

The U17 Professional Development League Cup is an English youth football tournament created for players aged 17 and under.

U18 Professional Development League Cup

Established for the 2021/22 season, the Professional Development League Cup features 32 teams divided into eight groups of four.

The group winners advance to the knockout stages.

Burnley U18 are drawn in Group D against under-18 teams from Preston North End, Sheffield United and Wigan.

U21 Premier League Cup

The Premier League Cup was introduced in the 2013/14 season to enhance competition during the Professional Development Phase.

It added a knockout tournament alongside the regular league schedule. For the 2024/25 season, the format features nine groups.

The top team from each group automatically qualifies for the knockout stage, along with the seven best second-placed teams.

Burnley are drawn in Group G against under 21 teams from Luton Town, Brighton & Hove Albion and Reading.

Central League Cup 2024/25

2024/25 Central League Cup Fixtures announced.

18 teams have entered the competition, divided into four groups:

Groups A and C contain five teams each, while Groups B and D each have four.

In the group stage, Burnley will play each of the other four teams in Group A once. The teams are Blackburn Rovers Reserves, Barrow Reserves, Morecambe FC Reserves and Carlisle United FC Reserves.

The academy participates in the Lancashire FA Senior Cup

15th November 2024

In the 3rd round of the FA Youth Cup, Burnley have been drawn away to Fleetwood Town.

28th November 2024

The 3rd round tie of the FA Youth Cup against Fleetwood Town will take place on Tuesday 10th December at the Highbury Stadium.

8th December 2024

The U21s secured their place in the Premier League Cup knockout stages with a goalless draw against Brighton & Hove Albion.

10th December 2024

The FA Youth Cup journey came to an end for Burnley after a third-round loss 0 – 1 away at Fleetwood Town.

20th January 2025

Benn Ward has completed a permanent transfer to Accrington Stanley from Burnley, signing a one-and-a-half-year contract.

7th February 2025

Burnley U21s secured a spot in the semi-finals of the Lancashire FA Senior Cup after defeating Morecambe in a penalty shootout.

The match ended in a 1-1 draw in regular time, with Zach Johnson finding the net for the Clarets before they triumphed 3-0 on penalties.

11th March 2025

Burnley U17 have exited the Under-17s PDL Trophy after a 1-0 home defeat to Shrewsbury Town U17.

7th April 2025

Burnley U21 will face QPR U21 in the Premier League Cup semi-finals after securing a 2-0 victory over Chelsea in the quarter-finals.

The match is set to be held at MATRADE Lotus Road, with the date yet to be confirmed.

25th April 2025

The Premier League Cup match between Burnley U21 and QPR U21 will take place on Wednesday 30th April at MATRADE Lotus Road.

26th April 2025

Burnley Under-21s secured their spot in the end-of-season play-offs in the PDL with a 2-0 away victory over Fleetwood Town.

30th April 2025

Burnley U21 have been eliminated from the Premier League Cup after a 2–0 defeat to QPR U21 in the semi-finals.

9th May 2025

Burnley have been officially awarded Category One status in May 2025, following a detailed assessment by the Professional Game Academy Audit Company (PGAAC) marking an upgrade after three years at Category Two.

Burnley Under-18s have exited the Premier League U18 Professional Development League play-offs following a 2-1 defeat to Watford U18 in the semi-final.

12th May 2025

Burnley U21 have been eliminated from the Premier League U21 Professional Development League play-off semi-final after a thrilling 4-3 defeat to Bournemouth U21.

Joe Bauress, Tommy McDermott, and Joe Westly were on the scoresheet for Burnley.

3rd June 2025

Zach Johnson has been nominated Burnley’s Scholar of the Year for the 2024/25 season, earning the honour through his dedication both on and off the pitch.
