Notts County FC Academy

Notts County FC runs a category 3 academy based in Nottinghamshire. They have an elite youth development program that nurtures young talent.

Some of Notts County’s B Team academy home matches take place at Hucknall Town FC’s grounds.

Academy Competitions

Each season, the Academy competes across the standard slate of competitions for Category Three clubs:

• U17 Professional Development League Cup – an English youth football tournament for players aged 17 and under.
• U18 Youth Alliance Cup – an EFL-organised youth tournament for Under-18 teams from League One and League Two clubs competing in the EFL Youth Alliance. It follows a format similar to the EFL Trophy, beginning with a regional group stage before progressing to a national knockout phase.
• FA Youth Cup – the traditional nationwide knockout competition open to academy sides across English football.
• Central League Cup – a reserve-team competition in which entrants are divided into groups, with the top two teams in each group advancing to the quarter-finals.
• Notts FA Senior Cup – a county knockout competition contested by Notts County’s Academy alongside senior and academy sides from across Nottinghamshire.

The Academy enters the 2025/26 season under B Team Head Coach Tigran Tadevosyan.

2025/26 Tournament Groupings

In the U17 Professional Development League Cup, Notts County’s Under-17s were grouped with Under-17 sides from Burton Albion, Lincoln City and Crewe Alexandra.

For the U18 Youth Alliance Cup group stage, the Under-18s were drawn at home against Rotherham United. In the FA Youth Cup first round proper, the Under-18s were drawn away against Crewe Alexandra.

In the Central League Cup, Notts County’s Reserves were drawn in Group D against Reserve sides from MK Dons, Oxford United and Wycombe Wanderers. The Reserves also took part in the Notts FA Senior Cup.

Season Timeline

May 2025

• Apprentice professionals Yerim Zoko, Harrison Iwunze, and Harvey Lawson were offered one-year contracts, with Frankie Deveraux offered a further-year extension. Owen Bickley, Zak Denman, and Elias Reaney were offered extended scholarships.

October 2025

• Notts County’s Under-18s’ FA Youth Cup journey came to an end, following their tie away to Crewe Alexandra’s Under-18s.

April 2026

• Ryley Reynolds put pen to paper on a new deal with the club; the 20-year-old attacking midfielder, currently on a season-long loan at National League North side Kidderminster Harriers, agreed a two-year contract, with the club retaining the option to extend it by a further year.
• Harrison Iwunze committed his future to the club by signing a new deal; the 20-year-old forward, who featured three times in the EFL Trophy that season, agreed to a one-year extension, with the club holding the option to extend it by a further year.

2024/25 Tournament Groupings

In the U18 Youth Alliance Cup, Notts County’s Under-18s were drawn in Group D against Under-18 sides from Chesterfield, Lincoln City, Mansfield Town, Burton Albion and Rotherham.

For the Central League Cup, Notts County’s Reserves were drawn in Group D against Grimsby Town Reserves, Mansfield Town Under-21s and Chesterfield Reserves.

In the FA Youth Cup, the Under-18s were drawn away against Kempston Rovers Academy in the first round, away against Burton Albion in the second round, and at home against Fulham in the third round.

The Academy also participated in the Notts FA Senior Cup.

September 2024

• Kameron Muir became Notts County’s youngest ever player at 15 years, 1 month and 1 day.

October 2024

• In the first round of the FA Youth Cup, Notts County were drawn away to Kempston Rovers Academy.
• Notts County secured a place in the second round of the FA Youth Cup, following their tie against Kempston Rovers FC.

November 2024

• At just 15 years old, Kameron Muir competed in the first rounds of both the FA Youth Cup and the FA Cup within the same week.
• Notts County’s Under-18s were drawn away to Burton Albion in the second round of the FA Youth Cup, with the match scheduled for Saturday 16 November at the Pirelli Stadium.
• In the third round of the FA Youth Cup, Notts County were drawn at home to Fulham, following their tie against Burton Albion in the second round.

December 2024

• The FA Youth Cup journey came to an end for Notts County after a third-round tie at home to Fulham.

February 2025

• Notts County offered professional contracts to nine promising young players: Daniel Adiefeh, Cassius Cisse, Madou Cisse, Carter Foxe, Charlie Gill, Alfie Goodwin, Harrison Hazard, Milai Perott, and Theo Robinson.
