U17 Professional Development League Cup

The U17 Professional Development League Cup is an English youth football tournament created for players aged 17 and under.

U18 Youth Alliance Cup

The EFL Youth Alliance Cup is a youth football tournament in England, organized by the English Football League (EFL). It features under-18 teams from League One and League Two clubs that compete in the EFL Youth Alliance, the league system for these academies.

The competition follows a format like the EFL Trophy, beginning with a regional group stage before progressing to a national knockout phase.

Designed to foster young talent at lower-tier EFL clubs, the tournament provides a structured competitive environment beyond regular league matches.

In the group stage, Swindon Town U18 are drawn in Group E against under-18 teams from Forest Green Rovers, Oxford United, Cheltenham Town and Walsall.

Established for the 2021/22 season, the Professional Development League Cup features 32 teams divided into eight groups of four.

The group winners advance to the knockout stages.

17th October 2024

The Swindon Town academy staff hosted its first ‘Academy Insights Evening’ inviting local coaches and anyone interested in learning how the club develops success within its youth teams.

19th October 2024

In the 1st round of the FA Youth Cup, Swindon Town have been drawn at home to Newport County.

29th October 2024

After beating Newport County at home in the first round 3 – 1, Swindon Town has secured a place in the second round of the FA Youth Cup.

1st November 2024

Swindon Town U18s have been drawn away to Gillingham in the 2nd round of the FA Youth Cup. Match to be played on Tuesday the 19th of November.

15th November 2024

In the 3rd round of the FA Youth Cup, Swindon Town have been drawn away to Queens Park Rangers if they win their match against Gillingham.

19th November 2024

Swindon Town will face QPR in the 3rd round of the FA Youth Cup after beating Gillingham 2 – 1 in the second round.

24th November 2024

The U18s have progressed to the quarter finals of the PDL Cup following a 3 -1 win away at Bournemouth.

12th December 2024

The FA Youth Cup journey came to an end for Swindon Town under-18s after a third-round loss 1 – 3 away at Queen Park Rangers.

8th January 2025

Swindon Town advance to the next round of the Youth Alliance Cup after securing four wins from four in the group stage.

22nd January 2025

In the Under-17s Professional Development Trophy, Swindon Town made the trip to play Salford City in the round of 16.

Town had finished 3rd in their group I of the PDL Cup, which qualified them for the PDL Trophy.

After beating Salford 3 – 1 at the Hurst Cross Stadium, they are now through to the Quarter Final with goals from Kian Larkins and a brace from Botan Ameen.

Botan Ameen has been shortlisted by the LFE for the EFL League Two Apprentice of the Season awards for 2025.

This award honours exceptional young professionals at EFL clubs who have distinguished themselves both on and off the pitch throughout the 2024/25 season.
