U17 Premier League Cup

In 2017, the Premier League introduced the U18 Premier League Cup and the U16 Premier League Cup, renaming the latter to the U17 Premier League Cup in 2020 for their respective age groups.

The seven group winners, along with the best runner-up determined by total points, goal difference, and then head-to-head record, will progress to the quarterfinals.

U17 Premier League Cup Group Stage

Charlton U17 are drawn in Group A against under 17 teams from Chelsea, Arsenal and Fulham.

U18 Professional Development League Cup

Established for the 2021/22 season, the Professional Development League Cup features 32 teams divided into eight groups of four.

The group winners advance to the knockout stages.

Charlton U18 are drawn in Group E against under-18 teams from Stevenage, Colchester and QPR.

U21 Premier League Cup

The Premier League Cup was introduced in the 2013/14 season to enhance competition during the Professional Development Phase.

It added a knockout tournament alongside the regular league schedule. For the 2024/25 season, the format features nine groups.

The top team from each group automatically qualifies for the knockout stage, along with the seven best second-placed teams.

Charlton Athletic are drawn in Group H against under 21 teams from Stockport County, Leeds United and Birmingham City.

Former England youth international goalkeeper Tommy Reid has joined Charlton U21 after leaving Brighton and Hove Albion.

19th October 2024

In the 1st round of the FA Youth Cup, Charlton Athletic have been drawn away to Gillingham.

28th October 2024

The FA Youth Cup journey came to an end for Charlton Athletic after a first-round loss of 4 – 3 away at Gillingham.

The Addicks advance into the last 32 of the Bristol Street Motors Trophy following a 3-0 win over Chelsea U21s at the Valley.

Thierry Small has been called up to England’s Elite League Squad for November’s internationals.

Academy graduate Karoy Anderson has reached 50 appearances for Charlton Athletic.

7th January 2024

Aaron Henry has been recalled from his loan spell at Rochdale, where he made 16 appearances and scored twice. Unfortunately, he suffered a broken foot in November.

17th January 2025

Miles Leaburn has been named the EA Sports FC EFL Young Player of the Month for December.

The 21-year-old tallied four goals and two assists during the month.

21st March 2025

Charlton Under-21s will face Southampton away in the Premier League Cup quarter-finals. The match is set for Saturday, March 29, at Staplewood Campus, kicking off at 2 PM.

Charlton U21s fell to a 5-3 defeat away to Southampton in the U21 Premier League Cup quarter-finals.

11th April 2025

The Charlton Under-17s were narrowly defeated by Tottenham Hotspur in a thrilling Premier League Cup final held at the Lamex Stadium. Manu Wales netted a brace for the young Addicks in the hard-fought contest.

Charlton Under-16s were defeated 2-1 by Watford Under-16s in the final of the Premier League U16 Professional Development League Cup, with the match taking place away at Vicarage Road.

Tyreece Campbell is the 2024/25 season Valley Gold Young Player of the Year.

16th May 2025

Nathan Asiimwe, currently on loan at Walsall, played a key role in helping the team reach the EFL League Two play-off final after a 2-1 victory over Chesterfield in the second leg.
