Chelsea Academy Competitions For 2024/25
U17 and U18 Premier League Cup
In 2017, the Premier League introduced the U18 Premier League Cup and the U16 Premier League Cup, renaming the latter to the U17 Premier League Cup in 2020 for their respective age groups.
The seven group winners, along with the best runner-up determined by total points, goal difference, and then head-to-head record, will progress to the quarterfinals.

U21 Premier League Cup
The Premier League Cup was introduced in the 2013/14 season to enhance competition during the Professional Development Phase.
It added a knockout tournament alongside the regular league schedule. For the 2024/25 season, the format features nine groups.
The top team from each group automatically qualifies for the knockout stage, along with the seven best second-placed teams.
Chelsea are drawn in Group I against under 21 teams from Brentford, Derby County and AFC Bournemouth.

Entry into or removal from this league depends on meeting the Elite Player Performance Plan (EPPP) accreditation criteria.

The Premier League International Cup
The participating teams are split into four groups of eight, each comprising four UK-based Under-21 teams and four invited overseas clubs represented by their development squads.
Each UK team will host all four overseas clubs in their group. The results will determine the standings in each group, with the top two teams advancing to the knockout stages.
Chelsea U21 will face RB Leipzig, Anderlecht, Real Sociedad and Sporting CP in the initial phase of the tournament.
Brighton, Crystal Palace and Southampton are the other UK-based teams in their group.

From the Premier League Cup tie against Real Sociedad onwards, Under-21 match tickets will be discounted, with free entry for season ticket holders and members.

In the 3rd round of the FA Youth Cup, Chelsea have been drawn away to Leicester City.
24th November 2024
Chelsea are through to the quarter finals of the U18 Premier League Cup.
14th December 2024
After their 3-2 victory over Leicester City in the third round, Chelsea have advanced to the fourth round of the FA Youth Cup, where they will face either Merstham or Burgess Hill.
22nd December 2024
Chelsea have ensured the long-term commitment of 2007-born centre-back Olutayo Subuloye, who has signed his first professional contract with the club.
2nd January 2025
Aaron Anselmino, Ronnie Stutter, and Gabriel Slonina have all been recalled from their loan spells.
Anselmino may either provide depth for the squad or be sent out on another loan, Stutter returns after not featuring at Burton Albion, and Slonina has been brought back due to injury.
Seventeen-year-old academy goalkeeper Kai Crampton is set to leave the club to join Bournemouth.

Eddie Beach has been recalled from his loan at Crawley Town, where he made two appearances.
Chelsea have advanced to the fifth round of the FA Youth Cup, where they will face either Manchester United or Preston North End.
A dominant victory over Merstham U18s featured a hat-trick from Shim Mhueka, along with goals from Kavuma-McQueen, Cardoso, Walsh, and Ezenwata.

Chelsea U18s have been knocked out of the FA Youth Cup after a 5-1 loss away to Manchester United U18s. Reggie Walsh scored the only goal for the Blues.

At just 17 years, 4 months, and 14 days old, Shim Mheuka has become Chelsea’s youngest-ever starter in a UEFA competition.
He surpasses the previous record held by Callum Hudson-Odoi, who made his first start at 18 years and 22 days old.

Chelsea Under-14s have been crowned Albert Phelan Cup South champions following a dramatic late comeback against Millwall away from home. They will face Aston Villa later in the season to compete for the national title.

Academy forward Yahya Idrissi signs his first professional contract with Chelsea

Chelsea Under-21s secured a 4-0 win over Wolves U21 to advance to the quarter-finals of the Premier League 2 knockout stage.
Goals from Samuel Rak-Sakyi, Harrison Murray-Campbell, Donnell McNeilly, and Ryan Kavuma-McQueen sealed the dominant victory.

Chelsea Under-21s are set to play away against Crystal Palace Under-21s in the Premier League 2 knockout stage quarter-finals on Saturday, May 3rd.

Reggie Walsh made his debut for Chelsea in the Europa Conference League semi-final first leg against Djurgarden.
Still of schoolboy age, he cannot sign a professional contract until his 17th birthday in October.
Walsh is now Chelsea’s third-youngest ever player, behind Ian Hamilton and Kingsley Whiffen, having featured at the 3Arena just six months and 11 days after turning 16.

Chelsea Under-16s were beaten 3–1 by Arsenal in the Premier League Cup final yesterday. Jeremiah Berkeley-Agyepong scored the Blues’ only goal in the match.
Chelsea U21 were knocked out of the Premier League 2 Playoffs in the quarter-finals following a heavy 6–0 defeat away to Crystal Palace U21.
Dylan Williams has completed a permanent move to Burton Albion after initially joining the club on loan.
The 21-year-old has signed a three-year deal at the Pirelli Stadium, with the option for an additional 12 months.

Reggie Walsh featured in the second leg of the Europa Conference League semi-final against Djurgårdens IF Fotboll, becoming the youngest player to start a European match for Chelsea.
Chelsea’s Donnell McNeilly has been nominated for the Premier League 2 Player of the Season award, with the winner set to be announced next Tuesday.

Shumaira Mheuka has been named Chelsea’s Academy Scholar of the Year for the 2024-25 season.
He joins a distinguished list of past recipients, including Ollie Harrison, Somoto Boniface, Ronnie Stutter, Alfie Gilchrist, Lewis Bates, Henry Lawrence, Billy Gilmour, and Connor Gallagher.
